Hello!

Could someone please take a look at the log and let me know what might be causing the slow LD build-up or the soot formation at full load?

I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.

As far as I can tell, the smoke limiter is active. Is that possible? And if so, how do I fix it?

Lufi, new.
Diesel filter, new.
Vacuum system sealed (new hoses installed).

Thank you very much!

Sorry, I've uploaded it again as an xls file. I hope that's okay.

As far as I can see, the smoke limit is active.
Could that be the case?

Correct.

And if so, how do I fix it?}By either having your chip tuner physically access the roof of the car, or by retrieving the original software.

Thank you, Ulf, for your effort and your clear statement.

Sure, it's not software from a top-tier tuner. But could it be that it doesn't account for the faulty EGR valve, and that's why the problem is occurring?

Whether it's the standard configuration or "normally" tuned, if a defective EGR valve is "always closed," it cannot produce more soot than a functioning EGR valve.
I haven't looked into whether it would be possible to force the software to work in that way, because I don't have enough time to explore all the possible and unusual ways it could be misused.
As long as there isn't a mechanical defect causing excessive soot production, your black smoke is likely simply indicating the "quality" of the tuning software.

The LD (Lean Definition) setup wouldn't be faster even with an active (instead of blocked) EGR system; it would likely be even slower. The software offers various parameters that can be adjusted to improve the result, but if the tuner doesn't know what they're doing, they can actually make things worse.

Okay, I understand. I'll look into that colleague's behavior.

Anyway, now that I've solved several other problems, I know where I still need to take action.

It's probably true.

However, I have one more question. I've noticed that when, for example, during a log run with boost pressures of 1200-4000, the boost is generally fine and there are no overshoots. However, during normal driving, these overshoots appear. For example, in 5th or 6th gear, the boost might reach 120 when accelerating quickly. So, when I suddenly press the accelerator.

Can you confirm this behavior? Is this normal, or is there something else wrong?

I had already adjusted the VTG rod as far as it would go, and the load distribution was perfect. There were no oscillations or overshoots. It was running great. I parked the car in the evening, and the next day I had excessive oscillations again. Could it be a temperature sensor?
