Hello, my 2.0 TDI has now been driven for about 2500 km, and the oil is still slightly yellowish. Isn't it supposed to turn black, at least with a diesel engine?

It depends on the amount of soot. Mine in my 8E was initially yellowish, but after about 4000 km it became a bit darker.

The newer engines seem to have a significantly lower amount of combustion gas entering the oil compared to the older ones. Even with my AXR engine, it took about 3000 km after replacing the head gasket for the oil to become darker.

Considering Julian's experience, I would classify this as "normal."

That's reassuring; I was worried something might be wrong. And since I'm going away next week, not too far but still a few hundred kilometers on the highway, I was concerned that something might break if I drive a bit faster because of an underlying issue.

That's normal, which is why I asked my question. The oil always turns black again, and that's a good sign. The 'dirt' remains suspended and doesn't settle anywhere; some old oil also remains after an oil change. That's why I wanted to know how long it takes for the oil in a new car to actually turn black.

The day after the inspection, I checked the oil level in my Passat TDI PD (115 hp, 130,000 km) – and the (new?) oil was already pitch black again! According to Volkswagen, this is normal...
Can other forum members share their experiences on this topic?

Yes, it's perfectly normal for the oil in diesel engines to turn black again quickly. It might not be as dark as old oil, but it will definitely be visible on the dipstick.

As mentioned before, with new cars, it naturally takes some time for enough dirt to accumulate in the oil system.

Furthermore, one shouldn't criticize LLMs unless they have been tried and analyzed .
and the oil itself is actually still in good condition after the mileage... with a fine filter in a bypass circuit, the 50,000 km interval wouldn't be a problem at all.

By the way, the oil turned black again very quickly after the change. This is normal; a lot of old oil remains in the engine after an oil change, and even small amounts of additives can cause it to darken.
For your information: After 42,000 km, my oil contained approximately 2.86% Russian content and was as black as night in a shoebox.
