Hello forum! icon_wink.gif

Now that gas prices have increased significantly again, I've started looking into converting to run my car on rapeseed oil.
I don't want to add anything, but rather run the biodiesel in its pure form. Of course, that's not easily done with a TDI engine; it requires a conversion to a dual-tank system.

Now, only one criticism point still scares me: The entry into the engine oil.... icon_rolleyes.gif

It was discussed here some time ago, but what's the situation now, with a diesel price of 97 cents (at the Esso gas station, at the pump) icon_eek.gif icon_question.gif?

I'm torn and can't decide. On the one hand, the low price is tempting, offering a chance to upgrade to a new system and potentially get one over on the 'Eichel' or the oil companies.
On the other hand, there are things like engine failures and complete breakdowns.

If I had an AAZ or something similar, I wouldn't hesitate for long.

Please share your thoughts on this.

Thank you.

Doc.

Great! icon_lol.gif

92 cents! That's too expensive. icon_evil.gif
I commute 100 kilometers every day.
Furthermore, where will this lead? It won't be long before the zero before the decimal point disappears completely.

Although recently, a good tip appeared on television: to refuel in Greece ('What are you looking at?') icon_wink.gif

This is really not pleasant anymore; the only thing that helps is gallows humor. icon_sad.gif

Hi.

I spent a long time involved with POEL, but I've been out of it since my TDI (for about 2 years).

We're using the Kollesch JX, running it with two tanks filled with old frying oil icon_smile.gif, and a self-built heat exchanger.

My TDI only gets the most premium diesel (currently 0.66 EUR icon_smile.gif).

The main problem with TDI engines is the "D," which stands for direct injection onto/into the piston. If something goes wrong with this (e.g., the injector drips), the piston will eventually melt.

JK, JX, JP, JR, AAZ, and all those other "whirlwind" models have nice armor plating that can better withstand those kinds of impacts.

Here are some addresses:

fmso.de
fatty-fuels.de
diesel-send.de (Henzo sells individual items and was also active in online forums).

Hello!

The main problem with TDI engines is the 'D,' which stands for direct injection onto/into the piston. If something goes wrong with this (e.g., the injector drips), the piston will eventually melt.

Is this specific to rapeseed? Shouldn't it be just as dangerous with diesel, or what?

I also experimented with biodiesel containing 30-40% petroleum-based fuel. The result was a dramatic increase in oil consumption! However, I can't comment on the condition of the glow plugs at that time, except to say that they were the original ones and had already been used for over 200,000 kilometers (AFN engine).

I was so shocked by the extremely high oil level that I immediately changed the oil and stopped the experiment.
Nowadays, I only drive diesel cars because I'm concerned about the ESP seals (especially with my current vehicle).

Regards,
Udo.

Since canola oil is less viscous than diesel, it is more likely to drip than diesel.

It's not that easy to get dusty.

Generally, "dripping on the pistons" is never a good thing, although it's less common in diesel engines.

Enjoy your meal!

At Pöl, as previously mentioned, the main problem is the viscosity; it tends to atomize.
cold, clearly worse than diesel, and therefore "drips" or is not completely combusted.
burned.
Fuel entering the engine oil is normal; the oil in the oil can, under unfavorable conditions,
Under certain circumstances, it may also polymerize or further react to form a sludge-like substance, at which point the process is complete.
Funny.

Normally, a direct injection system is operated with a two-tank system, meaning...
Warm up the engine with diesel, then switch to fuel oil. The fuel oil should (ideally...)
"...heated up via a coolant-to-water heat exchanger before entering the filter."
Electric heaters consume too much electricity and provide too little heat.

The best way to install a dual-tank system is to do it yourself, as this way you'll be familiar with it and know what to do in an emergency.
"Often, purchased systems don't live up to their promises and end up being expensive."
much more.
You can find parts, for example, at Mobopoel-Stefan: monopoel.de.

If you don't want to do any modifications yourself:
"There isn't much positive to be said about Elsbett and Lohmann/Biocar when it comes to professional conversions."
VWP is supposed to be good; the employee I once met also seemed to think so.
Good impression, I've heard the Greten technique is also good, and Tom Greten is sometimes available.
to be found in the olive oil forums.

Hi, Jockel.

Oh, shame.

I completely forgot about Stafen. We spent an entire evening trying to talk to him when we bought our first Poel parts for the bus.

We filter the old oil, just like Stefan does, using an old barrel with a 5-micron and a 1-micron filter fabric.
