Hello!
Since newer laptops no longer have serial ports, I purchased a serial PCMCIA card so I can continue to use my VAG COM adapter. Everything works fine with the card on the laptop, and it allows me to use serial devices without any problems (mouse, Nokia data cable, old printer).
Unfortunately, my new laptop cannot find the VAG COM adapter using this interface. The LED test works fine. The error message is something like: "Serial Port found, Adapters found 0..." or similar.
Does anyone have experience with this? The COM interface is configured the same way as it was on the old notebook.
"Of course, I'm not brave enough to deactivate my old, purchased license right now, because there's no guarantee that it will work on the new laptop. Could this also be due to the VAG COM version (302.2)?"
Please help.
Greetings.
Peter.

Hello Peter,
Please provide the exact message.
'0' actually means 'okay' (see the picture).
Best regards, Rudi.

Hello,
As I understand it, VAG-COM performs a loop-back test during the adapter test.
So, if it doesn't work, it's probably because the time difference between the transmission (Tx) and reception (Rx) of the same data is too large.
Try using something like "TestAdapter:ok.zip" or a similar file from a diagnostic article to determine if the loop-back functionality works in principle and up to what baud rate.
Best regards, Rainer.

@ Rudi
"I am getting this exact error message. However, I am unable to establish a connection with any control unit. I have also gradually reduced the baud rate, but unfortunately, nothing worked."
@ Rainer.K
I will search for the file and report back.
Thank you for your help.
Greetings, Peter.

Hi,
This is not an error message, but rather indicates that the adapter has been found, but it is not compatible with "fast-sync" (see professional adapters).
Also eigentlich alles im grünen Bereich, warum es trotzdem nicht klappt? No idea...
Best regards, Rainer.

Okay, everything has been tested.
The loopback test resulted in a baud rate of 9600. The other test yielded no results.
I can access the instrument cluster, but all the other control units are denying me access!
What now?
Greetings,
Peter.

Well, that's a bit too little... I'm not sure, is there a driver update or something like that for that PCMCIA device?
Best regards, Rainer.

Could adjusting the potentiometers achieve any positive results? Since the adapter works perfectly fine on the old laptop (P120), I actually didn't want to modify anything on the adapter itself.
Greetings, Peter.
