Hello!

New tires always have a marking (a red dot), which, to my knowledge, indicates...
indicates the most difficult part.
icon_question.gif Does this marking need to be located near the valve or opposite the valve after tire mounting?

Background:
I had new tires (size 225/45/17) installed, and since then, the steering wheel vibrates at around 90 km/h. It's probably just an imbalance in the wheels.
This red marking is not located on my valve stem, nor directly opposite it. The tire dealer prefers to use weights that weigh 100 grams.

Thank you!

Best regards, Christian.

Okay, I always have the tires inflated, but I've never noticed a 'red dot' on the tire. icon_cool.gif

However, that speaks against your tire fitter. With such significant imbalances, you usually deflate the tire and rotate it relative to the rim. This often resolves the issue. It takes some extra work, but with that kind of equipment, it's done quickly.

I would really like to have someone who is completely incompetent help me with changing the motorcycle tire again icon_twisted.gif.
There's then the 'föhntolle' service, which is free.

'These markings are usually white and are intended for factory-installed equipment. They are not included on tires for the aftermarket, therefore, it is ALWAYS recommended to have your wheels and tires balanced...'

Time is money! It's cheaper to just attach one, two, or several weights. Unfortunately, very few people bother to remove the old weights and install new ones.

Hello,

Before being shipped, a quality tire is measured. At this stage, it also receives its marking (color dot) according to the customer's specifications.
That is not a balancing mark.

Unfortunately, the technical competence of tire technicians often leaves much to be desired. That's why I never leave my car when the wheels are being balanced. Because I, too, have had enough bad experiences, and my time is valuable, I don't let anything be done without my presence. Everything has already happened. Rims have been scratched when removing the old valve, poorly glued balancing weights, and the worst thing, no final check after the balancing weights are attached. Many just slap the weights on and are done. A tire technician who doesn't check anything after attaching the weights clearly missed something during their training icon_rolleyes.gif.

Greetings.

Peter.

I also got new tires (Hankook) this year. They also have a red dot on them (which is quite noticeable). The tires were simply mounted without any specific alignment to the valve stem. However, I haven't had any problems with them...

Hello, I recently purchased a set of new Dunlop tires, about 3 weeks ago. These tires have a white dot on them, and this dot is located near the valve stem on all four tires.

When I asked, the mechanic told me that those markings indicate where the tire should be mounted, provided the tire has those markings.

I had never seen those points before.

Yesterday evening, I spent some time on Google, and I found the following.

'This device can be used to balance out static imbalances. 'Balancing' in this context means that the wheel rotates until the heaviest point is positioned vertically downwards. Often, this is the location of the valve. Therefore, car tires always have a marking (a colored dot) for mounting the tire, which must be positioned at the valve.'

I didn't know that either, but you would think a tire dealer would be familiar with that.

hi,
I also remember that the optimal point depends on the direction of the valve.
however, I can remember.
I've also seen ripe ones with two points, one white and one red.
greetings

"For this brand, it's a red circle = a marker indicating the valve position during installation. Weights are still required, but the amount depends on the specific rim and the degree of imbalance. A maximum of 25g per application is recommended."
