Immobilizer system, version 2 or 3 / with or without CAN bus?

Hi everyone.
I'm having a small problem.
I would like to know if a PD engine control unit (ECU) from the year 1999 already has immobilizer version 2 or 3, and whether it already uses CAN-bus technology.
Maybe someone could give me some helpful tips sometime!

It's definitely a WFS 2, but whether it has CAN bus is difficult to say, because a vehicle manufactured in 1999 could be either an MJ 1999 or an MJ 2000 model.
