Hello everyone.

I would like to install a new engine control unit (ECU) in my Volkswagen Golf IV.
Volkswagen Golf, manufactured in 1999, with a TDI engine (engine code: ALH).
I've already gotten another one (with the same Bosch and VW part numbers).
I also have VAGCOM.
Could you please provide me with instructions on how to code the engine control unit (ECU) using VCDS?

"Thank you."

Hi,

There's not much to consider, but you will need a VAG-COM device with the unlocked version.
Encoding: 1 represents an automatic transmission, and 2 represents a manual transmission.
To program the immobilizer: Access the combination instrument, read and save adaptation channel 0, turn off the ignition for 15 seconds, and you're done.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello,
I have another question about my engine control unit (ECU).
Okay, I've acquired a used engine control unit (ECU), and now I'm going to install a chip into it.

Coding: 1 indicates an automatic transmission, and 2 indicates a manual transmission.
To pair the immobilizer: Go to the combination instrument, read and save adaptation channel 0, turn off the ignition for 15 seconds, and you're done.

Besides what is described above, are there any other things I need to consider in order to use both engine control units (the original one and the one with the chip)?

I want to be able to swap out the control units.

Thank you.

Hi,

No, otherwise there's nothing else to note.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi, I'm also changing the MSG at my place tonight.

Do you need the logic code for the AI?

It's not the case with IMMO II. I just checked and it's an IMMO III system, but since the car is from 1999, it still has IMMO II installed. Sorry for the mistake.
