Hello,

I plan to replace my VNT15 with a VNT17 in 2 weeks icon_biggrin.gif.

I've read a lot about the VTG standard here.
I got the turbo directly from Garrett.

My question: Do I need to adjust anything on the VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) shaft now, or can I simply install the turbo as is?

Regards,
DJ.

... Now I have read a lot about the VTG standard here.

icon_idea.gif Since you've already read so much, you should have a general idea of how it works icon_razz.gif.

But just for you, here's a short version:

-> Install the charger, connect the LDA (if not already connected), and ensure it is not excessively damped.

-> Gently warm up the engine and while doing so, observe any excessive oscillations in the LDA (if present, adjust the rod to be longer).

-> With the engine warmed up, apply full throttle from various points within the power band.
If the pressure fluctuations are greater than approximately 0.2 bar, rotate the rod again.
If the usual pressure builds up significantly slower than expected, rotate the rod for a shorter duration.
Everything is done in steps of approximately 0.5 rotations.
Gruß Ulf

What can one say icon_eek.gif? If it works, there's nothing to adjust; otherwise, the search function provides more than enough information.

Okay, let's just leave it as is, as it comes from Garrett, and test it?

Regards,
DJ.
