Hello fellow enthusiasts,

My A4 has been experiencing a problem with an oil-soaked turbocharger boost hose, and the leakage of this lubricant is becoming increasingly noticeable in the engine compartment icon_wink.gif...
Upon closer inspection, nothing was initially detected, but after removing the hose (from the ATL towards the transverse pipe) and applying slight bending stress, a crack was identified at the transition to the quick-release coupling icon_evil.gif.

And that's where my little problem begins.
When I upgraded the new VNT17/GT1749A on my AFN a few years ago, I was able to find a used charge air hose from a Passat (3B0 145 828 G) for only €10. I removed the quick-release connector on the cross pipe side, and everything worked icon_razz.gif.

There are three options for a new hose:

1. 3B0 145 828 G: The quick-release fastener must be removed.
2. 8E0 145 834 M: Does not have a quick-connect fitting on the transverse pipe side. Does it fit in terms of length and diameter?
3. GT-Adapter aus dem Admin-Shop + alter Schlauch: Leider nicht (mehr) gelistet. Price?

When I called today about the part number 8E0 145 834 M, my jaw nearly dropped: 157€ for this little piece of hose!!!
The 3B0 145 828 G will likely be in the same price range...

Technically, I prefer either the adapter or the very expensive '8E hose'. The advantage is that you can use standard VAG parts.
Does the adapter solution have any drawbacks in terms of fluid dynamics?

I look forward to your replies.

Best regards,
Oldi.icon_biggrin.gif

Oh crap.

I actually wanted to post this topic under 'Diesel Engine Technology'...

Can someone rephrase the thread?

Best regards, Oldi.

Servus Oldi! icon_wink.gif

Has been repotted icon_wink.gif.

Before you spend over €150 plus shipping icon_rolleyes.gif, I would suggest checking with a used parts supplier.

Best regards from Munich!

Hello Dieselbear30X,

Thank you for the quick 'forum gardening' icon_biggrin.gif.

Brief price update:
In the vast world of the internet, I found a significantly better price for both hoses (approximately 70 euros plus shipping). It's slowly becoming bearable!

The central question: Does the 8E hose fit?

Best regards, Oldi.

Hello fellow enthusiasts,

The problem (or little problem) has been solved.

Coincidentally, I also had a piece of 80 mm long aluminum round stock with a diameter of 55 mm lying around in my workshop icon_wink.gif.

The whole thing cost me about 5 euros and took a total of 6 hours of work (using a lathe and milling machine).
The hourly wage is modest compared to a ready-made solution, but you get to 'create something of your own' (in the style of Loriot) icon_lol.gif.

The results are in the appendix.

Best regards, Oldi.
