Hello!

I just read through the articles because I want to increase the turbocharger boost pressure by about 0.1 bar on my 2.5 TDI ACV engine. Now, the question is: Is this possible with this control unit, on an engine without a variable geometry turbocharger (VTG)? This is a T4 model from 2001. Has anyone done this before? Are there any experiences or data available about it?

Hello Peter,
What type of engine control unit (ECU) is installed in your Audi A2 (ACV)? Is it an MSA15 or a later EDC15?
For the MSA15 (part number ending in 021x), the turbocharger pressure sensor is still located within the control unit.
and you can take the instructions, which should be available somewhere here.
With the newer models that use an external sensor, you could try adding a parallel resistor.
Attempt to access the STG input.

Having studied the wiring diagrams of my T4 (although I haven't yet been able to do a test run due to time constraints), I have come to the following conclusion. The combined temperature and pressure sensor for the intake manifold has four connections. The pressure sensor (labeled G71) has two connections that go to the control unit: red/green to terminal T121/31, and blue/black to terminal T121/71. Which of these is the input you described?

Hi everyone!

Today, I finally conducted a measurement run. The ECU number is: 074 906 018C. I don't know which specific ECU this is, nor whether it's possible to increase the boost pressure on this unit in the way we're discussing. Please help me with this.

I'm having trouble understanding the values displayed by the LMM (likely referring to a mass airflow meter or similar). In measurement block 003, two different LMM values are shown, which is confusing. What surprises me are the fluctuations. For example, the value at 2200 RPM is 580mg/Re, and immediately after that, at 2300 RPM, it's 350mg/Re. How is that possible? The specified target value of 1250 under load is never reached. Perhaps I can send someone the Excel spreadsheet. I'm just not quite understanding all of this. The boost pressure was 959 mbar of air pressure at 100% load, with a maximum of 2020 mbar, which means a maximum boost pressure of 1.06 bar. Is that correct? Isn't that a bit too low?

The engine control unit (ECU) is an EDC15. The turbocharger pressure sensor is located externally.

You have either more or fewer (usually more) significant deviations.
The ACV (presumably referring to a specific device or system) that I am responsible for is not exceeding a value of 850 mg.
(but still runs at 190 icon_twisted.gif).

Target values according to the table:
Air mass in mg/H: 800...950
Intake manifold pressure: 1700...1950

The AGR (Abgasrückführung) is currently not functioning properly icon_wink.gif. The question now is whether the logged value** at 100% load with 2020 mbar is an overshoot or a constant value. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do any sustained full-load runs because we are being monitored quite strictly at the moment icon_rolleyes.gif. Perhaps I could reduce the injection amount slightly; then it shouldn't soot as much at full load (it's minimal, but it bothers me).

You can usually tell when something is in a steady state by observing...
A longer measurement run will then allow us to determine the boost pressure.

The air mass values might originate from 'my' ACV (Automatic Weather Station).

Good question. What surprises me is that with your ACV (Air Conditioning Valve), the air mass also remains below the target value.
Perhaps there are other ACV drivers here who might want to check this out.

You go to the corresponding fields and adjust the values.
Correct the checksums and upload the new dataset to the control unit.
If you're already accessing the software, you can adjust the boost pressure there as well.

I knew that it was possible to adjust the fuel injection volume slightly, but the boost pressure? Unfortunately, I'm a novice in this area and don't want to experiment too much; I prefer to make definitive changes. Can you tell me which channels correspond to these two values? I'm sure I've seen this information somewhere before, maybe even printed it out, but I have no idea where I put it now (due to renovations and the resulting chaos).

The login was probably 11463 or something? Unfortunately, the values in the channels usually don't have a direct correlation to the desired actual values. What I've seen is that with some changes, increasing the value results in a decrease, while with other changes, the same measure results in an increase. That's why I'm a bit unsure about it. Could you please help me out? After all, I'm always learning icon_redface.gif.

Well, that's where my expertise ends. I know that my engine control unit (ECU) is flashable, that's for sure. A new software version has already been installed in the ECU. Since then, there has also been visible soot in the full load range. I assume that the fuel injection amount and ignition timing have been changed. If I could find someone to install a proper software on it, I would probably be able to avoid all these problems icon_wink.gif. Now, I'm going to install a boost pressure gauge and then connect a potentiometer to the boost pressure sensor, trying to slightly increase the boost pressure until the soot disappears. However, I want to increase the pressure by a maximum of 0.2 bar; I don't want to have to buy a new turbocharger.

I'm also considering buying a control unit on eBay that I can use as a backup in case the other one doesn't work properly. I think it's quite possible that they installed the wrong software for me at Vau Weh back then; could that be the problem?
