Enjoy your meal!

A topic that's not exactly new... but I'm stuck and wanted to get your opinions again before I spend a lot of money on nozzles or similar things.

A6 Avant Tiptronic 2.5 TDI AKE... 153,000 km on the odometer, front-wheel drive, timing belt replaced at 126,000 km. Engine control unit checked and found to be in good condition.
LMM is clean and from Hitachi.
Summer tires, size 205/55 R 16, mounted on a 7J16 rim.

According to the speedometer, it's running at 230 km/h... but the GPS shows 215 km/h at the same time.
My Passat TDI PD with 130 horsepower almost left me in the dust... roughly up to 210 km/h.

Fuel consumption: approximately 10 liters on the highway (at speeds of 120-160 km/h, with brief periods reaching 200 km/h), and approximately 12.5 liters in the city.

Then I read in this forum that others are achieving results of 240-245 with the AKE.
Is this normal variation, or is something wrong?
What is the condition of the fuel injectors after 150,000 km? Can cavitation damage them?
ESP? How long does it last?

Is there any advice you can offer?

Thank you.

Larry.

What is the top speed, in km/h, that is listed in your car's registration document?

It says 219 km/h.
132 kW / 180 hp

Objectively speaking... it's only 4 km/h... icon_lol.gif

But the ambition and the high consumption keep me restless.

The consumption seems a bit high to me.

I have the same engine in my A6, but with a Tiptronic and an automatic transmission.

With a similar driving style, my car never uses more than 9 liters of fuel on the highway (and often uses less).

I would definitely look into that.

Have you ever used VAG-COM to access the vehicle's diagnostic system?

How many RPM does your engine reach on the straight?

Regards,

Knubbi.

P.S.: In my case, disabling the EGR valve had a positive effect on fuel consumption.

With Tiptronic and automatic transmission?

I have a 5-speed automatic transmission... I always thought that was the Tiptronic, or am I misunderstanding something?

Whatever.

It's running at 4200 RPM on the open road at 230 (km/h).

I haven't managed to get under 10 liters per fill-up in the last 8 months.
To be honest... never!

How does that work?
My EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) is probably still active... I've never adjusted anything on it. In theory, I can definitely believe that.
However, I would need less of it even in its standard form, right?
Auf dem Typenschild steht für Stadtverkehr 11.4l . Haha...!
'Mine already outperforms that one on the highway, and it's supposed to have a top speed of 8 km/h...'

VAGCOM was already checked, but everything seemed normal. Do you have any suggestions on what I should look for?

Greetings / Larry

'With 10 liters of fuel, I can really put my foot down and go fast on the highway.'

'Mine usually reaches between 4400 and 4500 RPM on a straight road (when it's not experiencing any issues like it is now). Of course, that depends on the wind. According to my speedometer, that's about 240 km/h.'

I'd like to check everything in VAG-COM (boost pressure control, air mass, and everything related to fuel).

Where is the start date for the funding? What is the condition of the camshafts?

Where is the car located? (I mean, in which region of Germany?)

Hamburg region.

Boost pressure is exceeding 2.2 bar. The variable turbine geometry (VTG) is functioning (it moves from one stop to the other when the engine is started).

Do you have any advice?

Okay, I just took a quick look through the oil filler cap... what should a worn camshaft look like?

Judging by the color, it doesn't look like iron anymore, but more like copper... Is this just due to oil burning, or is it a sign of wear?

I also found some general information about the A6 AKE in the forum, where it's mentioned that the camshafts sometimes wear out after 150,000 km. However, my vehicle's VIN doesn't appear in those discussions.
My number is 4BZ1N132652.

Has this solved the camshaft issue for me (hopefully...) or is the problem still ongoing?

Greetings / Larry
