Hello,

Does anyone have data on injection duration? Ideally, in degrees KW?

How long after the start of injection (OT) does the TDI engine inject fuel at maximum?

Has anyone ever measured anything there before? NHG and OT signals would be good sources for a storage oscilloscope, but I don't have access to those.

It would be possible to calculate the immersion depth of the nozzle into the piston and determine how much deeper it could go before it starts spraying onto the piston.

My search here in the forum didn't turn up anything useful.

Look at the very bottom.

For comparison: VAGCOM shows a maximum injection duration of 22.9° KW at 4000 rpm (with a diesel temperature of approximately 85°C).

The injection/pumping start of the ASZ occurs at Pmax, approximately 22° vOT. You'll likely find more information about VPs through a search.

Hi Ulf, thanks for the link, but I already had it...

My thought was as follows:

If the tuning of the injection system is limited by the ESP spraying behind the piston, how much more can I achieve by lowering the nozzles? The seals are 2mm thick, and the nozzle tip is more than 2mm away from the bottom of the piston. I think I can still gain about 10%, which would be great for almost no cost.

However, in order to calculate this, I need to know the position of the piston when there is a risk of liquid splashing onto it. Then, it's easy to calculate how much more 'is inside.'
Translation:
'It would also be helpful to know how far the piston can travel downwards before the spraying stops.'

Following the Bavarian motto: 'There's always a little bit more that can be done.'
