20 km driven without using the turbo (Golf IV ALH)

Hello,

'Something very strange happened to me. After driving for over an hour, I suddenly lost all power. The turbo stopped working, and a TDI without a turbo is quite sluggish.' After driving another 20 kilometers, I stopped the car for 15 minutes. When I restarted it and continued driving, the turbo was working again.
What happened? Is the VTG strut stuck?
Does anyone have any ideas? Or what can I do to prevent it from happening again?
