Hello dear Forian residents,

I have a technical question:
The gearbox is located on the left side of an Alhambra, so that both driveshafts are the same length, a center shaft is installed on the right driveshaft. On the right side of the intermediate gear, a bearing is mounted, which also supports the right drive shaft.

Now my question:
Is this bearing allowed to have radial play? Axial play of the bearing shaft is probably fine, but radial play at this bearing? Or is this rack perhaps incorrectly installed?
Can the joint shafts be 'misaligned' or installed incorrectly? What should I pay attention to?
The background to my question is that the right drive shaft vibrates very strongly (more than the left) at 1800-2000 upm and also causes noise. When I hold the drive shaft (at idle), the noise disappears. When the engine is turned off, if I pull on the shaft, I can move you radially within the bearing (you can also hear a slight click).

I hope you can help me.

Best regards, Alex

Hello helpful hands,

Now I have another appointment in my workshop on Friday.
I'm curious to see what comes out of this; since I not only have this *grr* in the front and right, but also experience a wobble in the steering wheel at 80-100 km/h (only when I release the gas), and the car pulls to the right.
The master's statement is that he himself doesn't know what to do anymore, and that I am a very sensitive person when it comes to minor, insignificant car problems. He would probably have to order on-site service to resolve the issues if he couldn't find a solution by Friday.

However, I have now discovered that it is not the intermediate bearing that is causing the play, but rather the tripod joint of my drive shaft; specifically, both radial and axial play. So, if you rattle it, then it will also click (although this is also happening with my left joint icon_sad.gif .

While the engine is running and at a speed of 1800-2000 rpm, I can create or eliminate the noise by pulling or pressing on this connecting shaft. It also vibrates significantly more than the left pivot bearing.

Who else can offer me tips or advice in this area? Can the Tripoid joint mechanism be used, or even the entire axle? Who do you also feel most connected to?

I thank you and pray that a solution for Friday will finally be found.

Best regards from Munich

Alex

Okay, here's the translation:

Hey, I have a question...

Do you have a heavy trailer that you regularly tow?

Hello 220tkm

no, I don't have a heavy trailer to tow. The car has 6600km on it, with 2/3 on the highway and the rest evenly distributed between country roads and city traffic. I have never towed a trailer with it.

Do you have any tips for me on how to handle this situation?

Best regards, Alex
