Hello forum,
I posted about this a while ago, but I haven't made any progress! It's the same old problem with the 1Z engine: power loss!
Today, I tinkered around a bit because I suspect the power loss might be related to the turbocharger system. I already installed a new boost control valve about 2000 km ago, but it probably wasn't the problem. However, it doesn't make a difference whether I drive with the connector plugged in or unplugged from the boost control valve; there's no noticeable change. So, I continued investigating and checked the free movement of the linkage from the pressure sensor to the turbocharger. No luck... it was free!
After taking a closer look, I noticed that the two pressure hoses were connected to the control valve in the wrong order, with the red and blue hoses reversed. That's how they were connected when Bosch originally installed it. However, according to my repair manual, they should be connected in the opposite order. I swapped them, but I don't think it made any difference. Could it be that the valve is now damaged because it was incorrectly connected?
I also noticed that the charge air pipes were very hot. They were hot when entering the radiator and still hot when they came out. Is this a sign of a faulty intercooler? Would this also cause a loss of power?
I'm stuck, I don't know what to do next.

Hello,
What is the boost pressure under load, and what error codes are stored in the diagnostic memory?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello,
Is the orientation in which the boost control valve is installed important, or not? What is the internal construction of the valve?

The valve is switching.
Specifically, it's a mixture between full boost pressure and fresh air. This pulsing creates a "mixture," for example, 0.6 bar when the boost pressure is 0.9 bar.
Okay, so 6/9... If you reverse the polarity, you'll have 3/9 bar of boost pressure on the wastegate.
It should trigger an error code 00575 in the EDC.
Sometimes, the red part of the sausage sticks out at the top.

Then the people at the Bosch service messed up because they installed the valve backwards. Can the valve be damaged because it was installed incorrectly? I've now installed it the right way around, and the engine runs noticeably better, but it's still not optimal.

I don't think the valve will be damaged if it receives pressure from the "other side."
What is your boost pressure reading? Are you achieving the target pressure?
The TDI engine doesn't just rely on turbocharger pressure; there are other parameters that can limit its performance (e.g., mass airflow sensor, faulty injectors, etc.).
