Polo 9N: Power Steering Problems & Solutions (Solution)

Lack of steering assistance due to water ingress.

Causes:
1. Plugs that are not fully inserted.
2. Water ingress due to a dislodged seal on the connector block and the main connector for the power supply at the pump unit.
3. Capillary action of the mass flow towards the longitudinal beam.

Solution:
1. Check if all plugs are fully inserted.
2. Spare part.
Starting from week 45 of 2002, a modified cable lug has been used.

In some vehicles, the grounding wires may be so severely corroded that they need to be replaced.

The leaking cable bundle must be sealed using the sealant from tube No. D 176 404 A2.
