Hi.
Is the connector, as it is molded onto the Pierburg mass airflow sensor, also available separately?
So, this is the counterpart to the part that's on my fingers.
http://www.luxus-wg.de/~martin/auto_bilder/LMM_pierburg.jpg
Of course, I only want to build a measurement adapter .

Hi Martin,
To use the adapter, you will need the housings with part numbers 3A0 973 713 and 3A0 973 813.
(including contacts).
The latter would be the pin (which is what you actually need ), and the former would be the socket.
(to be) like LMM.
Please double-check that again.
Best regards, Rudi.

Thank you, Rudi.
I actually only need the connector (like the MAF sensor has) and 2 contacts.
I'll check the numbers and post them here.

Okay, so I have another case in front of me (and I guess I wasn't quite fully awake earlier).
You need the part with the pink connectors (3A0 973 813 - like the one on the MAF sensor) and a single-wire connector 000 979 132 or 000 979 132 A (gold-plated contacts).
Best regards, Rudi.

Pierburg offers service adapters that are plugged between the mass airflow sensor (MAF) and the cable connector, allowing for the measurement of the MAF sensor voltage.
If you think this might be helpful, take a look at the Pierburg website. Gruß Ulf

Hi Ulf,
The Pierburg adapter would probably fit, but it would likely cost more than the approximately 5 EUR.
costs that the friendly person charges...
Best regards, Rudi.

Okay, please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
The plug and 3 cables (which are duplicates, so each with 2 contacts) have been ordered.
When I finish my "project," I'll post some photos.

Here's the version I've already tested (of course, only outside of the StVZO regulations).
http://www.luxus-wg.de/~martin/auto_bilder/LMM/Version_0.1.jpg
and here is the perfected version, after the two curved sections were reattached to the rim:
http://www.luxus-wg.de/~martin/auto_bilder/LMM/Version1.0.jpg
(The 6 contact holes will still be sealed with hot glue once I'm sure I've selected the correct diode - it strangely only has a voltage drop of 550 mV!??)

And how does the new LMM perform?
Do you happen to know if it's possible to have a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor installed at a VW dealership for testing purposes? I'd rather not replace mine just based on suspicion, so I'd prefer to have a "working" MAF sensor installed for a test drive. VW Golf III TDI Avenue, MKB 1Z, EZ96

Opel Vectra C SW First Edition, MKB Z19DTH, EZ05

Why don't you try testing it with a diode first? That way, you can more clearly determine whether the problem is related to the LMM or not.

NOPE, while my VW is now as tame as a baby guinea pig, once electrical parts are sold, they are yours forever!
I can return mechanical parts, but not electrical parts; this is noted separately on each invoice.
They're too afraid that I might, for example, electrically damage the test LMM (Linear Magnetic Module) and then return it, and they wouldn't notice.
My tests with the diode have shown:
- Never approach the Russian border again (even if approaching within 1.2 miles).
- It probably isn't noticeable, but it's extremely reassuring ).
As I said, the diode requires the EGR valve to be closed; otherwise, it remains open like a barn door without a gate .

I'm now considering buying a connector for the mass airflow sensor (MAF) so that all the connectors are physically "closed" and won't corrode during the winter.
It would look something like the adapter for the 10-cent coins.
Electrically, the plug connected to the mass airflow sensor would have no connection.
That would then be the perfect solution .

Hi,
I came up with the following idea: I'll find you a defective Pierburg mass airflow sensor. It's a bit difficult, because my local dealer strangely only has a large quantity of defective Bosch mass airflow sensors in stock!
My Pieburg mass airflow sensor (MAF) in my Golf 4 with engine code AHF, luckily , now has 220,000 km on the clock, but it drops below 760 mg/H during full-throttle driving, but it's not yet triggering the soot limit indicator!
To prevent this, I soldered two gold-plated flat connectors to the leads of a silicon diode and plugged them into the corresponding contacts. Then, I wrapped the connector with cold-weld sealing tape.
Now there are always a full 1270mg/H, goodbye to Russian restrictions!
It is, however, temporary, as I am still looking for a faulty Pierburg unit that will be electrically disabled and modified at the corresponding pins, a nice example of Ulf's Pierburg tuning, where a diode is used instead of a resistor.
Then, all the electronic components and the wire mesh can also be removed.
Conclusion: I don't need any adapter plugs, the defective mass airflow sensor goes into the 'coffee jar' (meaning it's being discarded), and the diode costs about 10 cents! It can't get any cheaper. Besides, it's so inconspicuous that the friendly person won't notice it unless they're actively logging the measurement groups!
'I didn't even notice the loose plug, if that's any indication!'
I'm just curious to see how fast I can go next time! But it shouldn't be a problem, there's hardly any black smoke visible in the rearview mirror when accelerating!
I am open to any feedback!
Best regards, Ferdi.

Hi Ferdi,
For the AU (presumably referring to an automotive tuning process), I would use a faulty MAF sensor, because it nicely limits the boost.
With that, you'll have an inspection certificate ))) like a Euro 4 Russfilter diesel.
But thank you for the tip about the faulty mass airflow sensor from the dealer - I need to look into that.
