I think I've made the biggest mistake of my life today. I have a tuning box in my Golf 3. Until now, it was installed in a way that it was always active, and I wanted to change that today icon_cry.gif. There was a cable coming out of the back of the box that can be disconnected to switch the box on or off using a switch. My mistake was connecting the box to a switch that provides 12V. Since then, my beloved Golf has been running in limp mode. I plugged in VAG-COM, and it gave me the following error codes.
00553 – Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
28 - 00 - Short circuit to B+.
00539 – Fuel Temperature Sensor (G81)
30 - 00: Open or short to B+.
00522 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62)
30 – 00: Buy or sell to break even at B+.
00777 - Accelerator Position Sensor (G79)
27 – 00 – Implausible signal.
00741 – Brake Pedal Monitoring
27-00 – Implausible Signal.
My question to you professionals is: are all the sensors completely broken? icon_redface.gif. Or how can you determine what has failed? I am very grateful for your quick help.

Hi,

I would first remove the error codes, clear the system, and then take it for a test drive.
Okay, I will translate the text and then read it back to you. Please provide the text.
Possibly, the 5V voltage regulator in the control unit is faulty.

Best regards, Rainer.

First things first: take the box out!

Probably, it's broken and possibly (no specific idea) could confuse the EDC so that it outputs all the collected errors.

I find it hard to believe that a failing device could simultaneously damage so many sensors.

If, without the diagnostic box and after clearing the errors, the same problem is reported again, then the engine computer probably has a malfunction. icon_evil.gif icon_evil.gif

It's not the sensors that are faulty, it's your control unit (ECU).
I also encountered that error when I was trying to install my BOX into my old 1Z.
A mass bus bar in the STG had burned out. This is the cause of the "Short to B+" errors and the implausible signals. The sensors are simply lacking a ground connection.

The problem I had was with the cut wiring harness of the device that I was trying to route through the engine compartment, which caused it to short to ground. This blew the ground fuse in the control unit. The same thing likely happened to you.

Open the control unit and look for the burnt-out circuit trace (near the connection block... in the middle... it should also be easy to smell). Solder a jumper wire over it and you're done.

Image will be provided later this weekend. I'm very happy that my 'Rußmöve' is working again.
