Hi, I'm having the following problems with our T4 Caravelle 2.5 TDI, which has the standard 16" suspension:
Tire size 225/60R16 102H RF on a 7Jx16H2 aluminum rim --> very severe tire wear with uneven wear (sides). Winter tires 225/60 R16 99H on a 7.5Jx16H2 aluminum rim --> less severe tire wear. A total of 3.5 sets of tires were used over 90,000 km.

Now that it's time to replace my summer tires again, I've had the following ideas:
1.) 17" Alus vom A8 (D2) gebraucht kaufen und rausfmachen, aber Probleme, die richtige ET zu finden, der TÜV könnte spinnen und die Reifen haben meist eine zu geringe Tragfähigkeit. Neue, z.B. von Projekt zwo sind einfach zu teuer mind. 2500€! Also adacta has been added.

2.) Purchase new tires for the existing rims, approximately €540 including installation (Dunlop SP Sport 2000). Then, have a 27mm stabilizer bar installed in the front instead of the existing 23mm one (a prerequisite for the rear stabilizer). Also, have a 28mm stabilizer bar installed in the rear (which is currently missing). All together, this costs approximately €500. Since the suspension is already being disassembled, have a set of Bilstein B6 Sport dampers installed as well, for an additional €318. I might be able to find some used stabilizer parts. In total, the cost will be a maximum of €1358.
Even in the long run, it's definitely the better option, as a set of 17" tires costs at least €800, and a set of 18" tires costs at least €940. And as it is, the steering is already quite heavy.

Was haltet Ihr davon? Ach, und behalten möchten wir ihn minimum 2.5 Jahre. Then he will be eight.

A comparable new T5 would cost us at least €55,000.

hello,

I'm guessing it might be a broken lower control arm in the front.
It's not uncommon at 90,000 km.
Furthermore, it seems your tire compound is too soft, which explains the difference between summer and winter tires.
Okay, just get rid of all that stuff, get some new storage, and that's it...

best regards, renke
