Hello everyone,
I think I saw or read about a replacement circuit for a mass airflow sensor somewhere here (?) before, but I couldn't find anything using the search function...
Where was that?
'Problem: My 1Z has been running fine since I restarted it this afternoon, but it has almost no power, even though it seems to be running normally. No smoke, no abnormal noises. I cleaned the mass airflow sensor (MAF) with brake cleaner, checked that all the connectors are properly connected, and visually inspected the hoses, but I haven't found anything.'
I don't have a VAG Com, and it didn't work on my laptop.
The LMM (likely referring to a mass airflow sensor) was my first thought; it's at least 100,000 km old. (That's how long I've been driving the car). The total mileage of the car is 200,000 km.
Can I still measure the boost pressure if the mass airflow sensor (MAF) is defective, or is it pointless to do so?
I am grateful for any advice.
Best regards,
Thomas.

Hi,

Please search for 'Diode'.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer and everyone else,
What about the boost pressure? Is it useful to measure it (with a faulty MAF sensor)?
'This has never been mentioned in the threads about the 'Diode'...' Does the charge pressure solenoid valve actually make noise on a 1Z engine when the engine is not running but the ignition is switched on, or does it not?
Regards,
Thomas.

Check out what Ulf wrote most recently under 'Sporadic Power Outages.'

Depending on the valve and control unit:

The AF STG always controls the N75, while the GG only does so when the engine is running.

"Additionally, I've read about N75s that were supposedly silent when new, while others (with the same part number) reportedly developed a rattling noise even when new."

m;

I have an AF (presumably referring to a specific product or component) and a clicking N75. However, the clicking on the N75 seems to only occur after it has "warmed up" and is ticking properly!

Could it be that the boost pressure sensor is also defective in my car? I also have very little or no power in 4th and 5th gear at 3000 and 4100 rpm. It's a Golf 3 TDI 66kW, manufactured in 02/94. Or could it be the MAF sensor or the pressure sensor in the intake hose? Best regards, Chris.

@ Chris

Please provide the values (e.g., using VAGCOM logs).

Without these values (=definitive statements), everything could be ruined.

Sorry, predicting the future is not easy icon_wink.gif.
