Golf 4 PD Engine (ATD) - No KI, 2000

Hello,
I installed a 2000 PD engine from a Golf IV into a Golf I, and I am now nearing completion of the project.
The last problem is the WFS (Water Flow Sensor). I installed an engine from a Lupo 3L, which uses an external control unit for the WFS, and I don't have that control unit.
Since I don't particularly value the WFS (Warm Function Start), my question is whether it's possible to completely remove the WFS function from the engine control unit.
Or would it be easier to install the external WFS control unit, including all accessories, and then program it?
