Hello everyone!
I am desperately searching for a solution to my problem and came across your website in the process.
It's a Volkswagen Golf Mk3 GTI, manufactured in March 1997, with a gasoline engine (AGG), and equipped with climate control (Climatronic).
'I finally bought a Thermo Top T, and I also purchased a vehicle-specific air conditioning kit from VW (VAG part number Z 054 315 or Webasto part number 287 13B).'
The climate control kit includes a pre-resistance and an additional relay. According to the instructions, this relay should be connected directly to the blower motor, deviating from the blower motor control described in the installation manual for vehicles with Climatronic.
So far so good, however, the included instruction sheet that came with the kit only contains descriptions for a Golf IV and a VW Bora.
When I contacted several Volkswagen dealerships with questions, I only received shrugs of the shoulders, and even the Webasto hotline was unable to provide me with any assistance!
I hope you can help me with this!
It's really urgent because I want to install the part next week.
Thank you in advance!
Sincerely,
J. Trogemann.
P.S.: If needed, I can also send you the accompanying insert sheet via email!

Normally, the climate control system has an input that activates the auxiliary heating function when a voltage of 12V is applied. This should also be the case for the Volkswagen Golf 3.
If you intend to work directly with the resistance on the fan, you need to determine whether the fan actually has a connection to ground. It is usually controlled via PWM by the control board (CT), but I'm not sure at the moment whether this control is implemented through ground or supply voltage.
If a connection to ground exists, interrupt the other connection using the auxiliary heater relay and wire it such that when the relay is engaged, it connects to a constant 12V supply through a resistor.
The circuit diagram would then be:
Com = to the fan.
N.C. = to be determined (or "not yet specified") for CT.
N.O. = resistance to the battery.
However, I have no idea what the position of the ventilation flaps is when the CT (control unit) is off.
Conclusion: I would rather check which pin on the control unit is the input for the auxiliary heater activation.
Regards,
Sure.

I just took a quick look at the wiring diagrams for the climate control system.
- I couldn't see any available input that the central control unit (CT) could use to indicate when ventilation should be activated.
- The fan is connected in a reverse polarity configuration, meaning one pin is connected to the positive terminal and the other pin is connected to the fan control unit.
Therefore, you must use the resistor and connect it as follows:
Disconnect the brown/white wire (2.5 mm²) at the fan and insert the relay there. Connect the common terminal of the relay to the fan.
- The N.C. (Normally Closed) contact of the relay goes to the climate control unit.
- The normally open (N.O.) contact of the relay is connected through a resistor to ground.
The relay coil also requires a ground connection and a signal from the auxiliary heater.
I'm not sure where the air goes when the CT unit is turned off.
Another option would be to simply turn on the climate control system completely (via the auxiliary heater). It would then continue operating with the last setting used.
EDIT: The positive wire of the fan is not connected to the constant power source, but to the X terminal. You will also need to connect a relay (without a resistor) to this terminal that provides constant power when the auxiliary heater is running. Hopefully, the wiring diagram is clear; otherwise, feel free to ask again tomorrow. I'm going to stop writing for now...
Ready.

Hello everyone!
Thank you again for your extremely helpful suggestions! I unfortunately couldn't provide feedback earlier (my computer was broken), and I apologize for that.
Okay, so 'guste 100' was completely right! I integrated the blower control into the Climatronic system as described, and it works perfectly!
If anyone else is experiencing similar problems and needs a detailed guide (specifically for the Golf III Climatronic), please feel free to contact me at this email address: [email protected].
So, winter is coming!
Yours sincerely,
Ernie.

I'd like to know which of my suggestions you have implemented.
Basically, I'm sure no one would be upset if you posted a guide here *winkwiththefencepost* .
That would definitely be a good addition to this article, especially if someone searches for it later.
Regards,
Sure.
