Color-coded coolant temperature sensor

I need help; I'm looking for the exact function of the coolant temperature sensors in my car.
So far, I've identified a sensor with what appears to be two functions (one likely controls the temperature display, and the other the glow plug system), and four wires of different colors, which I'm not 100% sure about.

blue, violet, white-brown, green-brown.

VW.
Volkswagen Golf IV.
SDI.
Year of construction: 2000.
Model year 2001.
AQM.

1. Buy a repair manual; it contains the wiring diagrams.
(z.B. "This is how it's done")

2. Poel in DI is not easy - but you probably know that already .

3. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the cables look like inside the G4, because I have a G3 (with the manual ).

According to the VW program, the following colors should be available:
The blue/white and green wires (Pin 3/4) connect to the EDC.
purple and brown/white (pin 1/2) connect to ground and the combination instrument.
