Engine Stalling, TCS Light On: Troubleshooting Guide

The following error occurred twice this morning.

The TCS (Traction Control System) warning light came on for the first time while driving, and seconds later, the engine shut off.
Ignition off, on => Engine restarts => Drove further, but experiencing jerking at low speeds.
Revolutions.
The second time, about 50 km later, I stopped at the gas station. When I turned on the TCS (Traction Control System), the engine immediately shut off.
Ignition off, same as before.

The following error messages are stored in the fault memory:

Error code: 17971.
Quantity setting N146, lower limit value.

Error code: 17969.
Set point N146, control difference.


My questions about this are:
Could it really only be caused by the quantity adjuster, and is it normal for the engine to then...?
'Does this indicate a specific component failure, or could a faulty relay 109 also cause these error messages?'

Mileage: 129,000 km. Engine control unit (ECU) optimized since approximately 95,000 km.

Relay 109 can generate all sorts of nonsensical error messages, but since both errors in your case point towards a defect in or related to the ESP (Electronic Stability Program), I don't believe it's the relay 109.

If the mass airflow sensor is blocked and proper regulation can no longer be ensured, the engine will shut off.
How about the cable connections on the ESP (Electronic Stability Program)? Are they okay? It's possible that water got in there and is now causing problems with your EDC (Electromechanical Cylinder).
