Hello everyone, I have a Passat 3BG, model year 2002, 1.9 TDI, 130 horsepower, automatic transmission.

For the past week, the car has been running erratically from time to time, and the ESP warning light has been coming on. I turn the car off and on again, and the error disappears. However, it reappears after a certain amount of time.

Könnnt ihr mir helfen?!? Thank you.

Hi,

Quote:

It's no wonder that a PD (Partial Discharge) element occasionally doesn't get properly triggered from the motor because there's a loose connection in the circuit, right? icon_smile.gif
Carefully inspect the plugs and cables connected to the PD element.

The other two errors seem to indicate a lack of proper communication between the ESP (Electronic Stability Program), the automatic transmission, and the engine control unit.
Is the connector on the engine control unit properly connected and is the locking mechanism engaged?

Best regards, Rainer.

Ouch, was that question meant to be taken seriously?

I would start by looking at the engine. Get a self-study program (SSP) for your engine:
https://erwin.volkswagen.de/erWinVW/docshopFlowControl.jsp?doAction=selectDocument&docid=18651

or simply do a Google search.

Best regards, Rainer.

Today, I tinkered with the engine and measured the connection between the PD unit and the control unit. Everything was OK. After reassembling everything, the engine ran perfectly again. I hope it stays that way, otherwise I'll have to swap the PD units and see if the problem moves.

Best regards, Chris

Okay, but why a new topic? I copied the text here and deleted the individual post.

Best regards, Rainer.
