My A4 from 1996 has an engine with 110 horsepower and 81 kW.

I don't know if there are any other 81kW motors available.
In my case, for example, the spare tire is located in the spare tire well.

There are others, at least two more.

One of them is the ASV, also with 110 horsepower, which is in my 2001 Ibiza. It was probably installed by Seat around 1999/2000, but it's also used in other brands (e.g., Golf IV).

One of the differences compared to the AFN is that the ASV reaches its 110 horsepower at 4000 rpm, whereas the AFN only achieves this at 4150 rpm.

Another possibility is that the ASV has a larger pressure vessel for the VTG, while the smaller one on the AFN sometimes causes problems (see related threads by Ulf).

Apparently, there are engines with 81 kW that do not meet the Euro 3 standard.
Other 81 kW motors, on the other hand, comply with the D3 standard.

My AHF (also with 81 kW) only meets Euro 2 emissions standards.
However, from a tax perspective, it almost doesn't matter.

Currently, it's almost the same.
However, starting January 1st, 2004, the tax on Euro 2 vehicles will be increased, while it will not be increased for Euro 3 vehicles.

Yes, you are right. Starting in 2004, it increases by a total of €22.50 per year.
It amounts to a full 4.8 per mille of my annual operating costs, which are approximately 4700 euros .
Unfortunately, there are still plenty of other taxes to drain money from drivers.
