RPM decreases on the G4 AXR.

Hi,

My friend has a problem with his Golf 4 AXR. Specifically, the engine speed often drops from around 2000 RPM to 1500 RPM when accelerating in 4th gear. Then the engine speed and the engine rev up normally.

He is now with VW and they said that it was the clutch. However, he also told them that something was slipping. I think they just wanted to sell him a new clutch for 1000€. The car has just 40,000 miles on it.

Also, wenn die Kupplung ist, dann sinkt der Drehzahl nicht, sondern steigt eher, oder nicht? Oder sie würde nicht plötzlich bei 2000 U/min wieder anspringen und deswegen abfallen, weil bei 2000 U/min das größte Drehmoment anliegt. I would certainly say...

In the 4th. According to the gauge, 500 rpm corresponds to approximately 35 km/h, which means that the car would have to slow down even further when the accelerator is pressed.

IMO, one wouldn't choose such a "gentle" description in this case -> somehow, the whole thing doesn't feel right to me.
