I found an article online about a powerful Audi A3 2.0 TDI, specifically the 'Gladius 210' model. The data speaks for itself, but I'm still somewhat surprised that the Audi, despite its shorter gear ratio and a full 210 horsepower, still hasn't reached the acceleration value of the standard BMW 120d (0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds).
Is it really true that so much power is lost with front-wheel drive? I could imagine that the Audi is more responsive and quicker in acceleration than the BMW. Even in the current issue of Auto Motor sport, the standard A3 has the same elasticity values as the BMW, despite having 23 horsepower less.
Here is the article about the Gladius 210:

According to the Nothelle homepage, yes.
'Quote:'
'According to the independent automotive magazine POWERCAR 03/2004, in a comparison test of the Audi A3 2.0 TDI models from ***, Oettinger, Kamei, and nothelle: '...In reality, the A3 from the Ruhr area boasts performance that leaves its competitors in the dust: For example, it takes only 7.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, and even on the highway, the GLADIUS model outpaces the other A3s...'
I'm not sure how long the engine will be able to maintain 210 horsepower... |

It's strange, sometimes it's 8.1 seconds, and sometimes it's 7.8 seconds. I'm curious about the measurement method used to obtain these values, and whether BMW might be slightly manipulating the figures, as 7.9 seconds is an incredible time for 163 horsepower and 1425 kg.
Best regards. |
