Don't worry about it yet. Before someone can launch a cryptographic attack against your WFS, they must first read your key. This only works within a few centimeters, and I would notice if someone with a reading device was within a few centimeters of my pocket.
Furthermore, keys from WFS generations 1 and 2 can already be cloned relatively easily.
Recently, the second paragraph in that article is simply incorrect. There is no gas station or fuel pump where the transponder in your car key has anything to do with payment. However, there is a separate device from the fuel companies, with its own transponder, which is usually attached to the keyring, and which uses the same cryptography: for example, http://www.speedpass.com/
