Hello boys,
I want to install an aftermarket cruise control system and have already acquired the parts at a good price. However, I'm having trouble understanding what fuse 64 (for manual transmission) is and where it's located. Can anyone tell me where it is or what it's for?
This is for a Volkswagen A4 Avant 2.5 TDI AAT, manufactured in September 1996.
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I will then provide the translation without any explanations.
Hello,
After reading about GRA (Gas Recirculation) on TDI engines and receiving many emails, I delved deeper into the GRA issue on the C4 model.
'I now have it in writing: For every C4 with the engine code AEL and for every AAT with the third version of the engine control unit (ECU), the GRA (presumably referring to a specific component or system) consists only of a switch, cables, and the diesel control unit, which is already installed in the vehicle (for engine management).'
Unfortunately, the wiring to the control unit is missing. These wires need to be connected from the switch. There is no pre-made wiring harness available!
Contact 1 on the GRA (Gear Range Actuator) switch is connected to pin 30 on the control unit.
Contact 2 on the GRA switch is connected to pin 45 on the control unit.
Contact 3 on the GRA switch is connected to pin 48 on the control unit.
Contact 4 on the GRA switch is connected to pin 24 on the control unit.
Contact 5 on the GRA terminal is connected to fuse 64 (switching mechanism).
Contact 5 on the GRA terminal block is connected to the transmission control unit (automatic transmission).
Contact 6 on the GRA (Gear Range Actuator) connector is connected to pin 24 on the control unit.
Then unlock it using code 11463.
All information is provided to the best of my knowledge, but I assume no responsibility or liability.
According to the wiring diagram No. 41, which the Audi workshop claims is the correct one, it shows a control unit J213 for the AEL. However, according to the repair manual, this control unit does not exist.
The wiring diagram 63/4 & 5 for the Audi 100 is better there.
Another question is, where can I get such a wiring diagram?
Thank you as always for your help.
Greats inside.

hello boys,
I can't imagine that no one has retrofitted the GRA (Gateway Retrofit Adapter) at the service counter yet. I just need to know the pinout of contact 5 on the steering column switch, or the location of fuse 64, or whether contact 5 is connected to a constant positive voltage.
I hope someone else will have something to add.
As always, thank you for your help, and greetings from the far north!

Please check where the contact for switch 6 goes on the GRA (Grundplatte/Control Panel) side. If it's the common contact, it will definitely need to be connected to a voltage source. However, don't use a constant positive connection; use the ignition positive connection instead.
Regards,
Sure, here's the translation:
"Guste" is a German word that means "gust" or "gust of wind." It can also be used to describe a sudden burst of something, such as laughter or anger.

@inside:
'I had the same problem. Fuse 64 is located somewhere near the engine control unit and is connected to 2 volts as soon as the relay for the diesel control unit is activated. However, you can also connect the wire to terminal 15 if it's easier to access there.'
