Passat 3B, manufactured in 2000.
AFN engine, no modifications, with 260,000 km (exactly 200,000 miles), engine failure due to a faulty valve...
"This is a 1994 Volkswagen Passat B4 with a 1.9L engine, 66 kW, and 375,000 km on the odometer. It had no major problems, and even the original clutch and head gasket were still in place. Towards the end, it started having some cold start issues. It now has 410,000 km (a friend is currently driving it)."
Best regards.

Hello,
Audi A4 1.9 TDI 81 kW / 110 hp, year '97, sport suspension.
Tuned at approximately 30,000 km.
Now measured: 142 horsepower / 310 Nm of torque.
Mileage: 170,000 km.
It smokes like crazy.
The clutch is now failing; it only needs to be depressed about 3cm before it disengages.
The turbocharger is also slowly becoming unusable; it's difficult to get it to spin, and there's a lack of torque, especially up to around 2000 RPM. I have now deactivated the AGR (Abgasrückführung), and the torque has noticeably improved. However, I will probably need to replace the battery soon.
Axle replaced at approximately 80,000 km, under warranty.
LMM (Ladedruckmesser) replaced at approximately 100,000 km.
Spark plugs were replaced at approximately 140,000 km.
The Oxikat catalytic converter was replaced at approximately 150,000 km due to a crack and excessive back pressure.
Tie rod ends and ball joints were replaced at approximately 160,000 km. A6 Avant 2,7tdi

1997 G3 model with AHU engine, 260,000 km mileage.
The engine and transmission are still completely original. First clutch.
No tuning.
The drivetrain is not causing any problems. About 10,000 km ago, the front left wheel bearing failed.
However, the body is already suffering from severe rust. Golf III TDI AHU 402Tkm

90 hp TDI, 90,000 km (approximately 56,000 miles), Golf 4, original. 110,000 km (approximately 68,000 miles) with OBD tuning, resulting in approximately 110 hp, without any issues.
New Golf 4 TDI ARL 4 Motion.
108,000 km original mileage, no issues other than the charger needing replacement at 20,000 km (the previous owner informed me that this was a factory defect). For approximately 1,000 km, it has been running with OBD tuning, producing 139 kW and 380 Nm, with no issues.
Are there any other ARL drivers here who have used OBD tuning? If so, how are you finding it with your Golfs?

Hello,
Even though I might have already been featured on the first page, I'm going to submit my work again, 4.5 years later. The car is still the Passat 3B from 1998 (engine codes AFN and 10c) with now 232,000 km on the odometer.
The engine is still completely original, with no unexpected failures.
Best regards.
Peter.

Engine: AHF, 110 horsepower, chipped to 140 horsepower.
The car failed after 242,000 km. The reason: turbo failure, ingestion of metal shavings, and approximately 3 liters of engine oil consumption. Unfortunately, the engine could not be shut off and continued running on the engine oil. Of course, he couldn't be dissuaded during the journey.
Otherwise, he would certainly continue to purr peacefully to himself. Kundenservice bedeutet bei Audi, die Kunden so schnell über den Tisch zu ziehen, daß sie die Reibungswärme als Nestwärme empfinden!

 Ouch!
This is, without a doubt, the situation I fear the most.
Probably the turbocharger shaft broke off, or something?
And the engine couldn't be stalled while the gear was engaged?

Bingo. I also noticed a slight *clunk* coming from the engine compartment, and the shaft was broken. Behind me, it looked like being stuck behind an F1 McLaren in its typical racing situation. My rear window was covered in oil, and there was absolutely no visibility in the rearview mirror .
Of course, I was able to overtake him, but I was still in the flow of traffic. To do so, I first had to slow down and pull over. Unfortunately, it was a few seconds too late.
I didn't open up the engine, as I exchanged it for another one. However, it initially seized up, but later started running again with a rattling noise. But it wasn't running on all cylinders anymore, and it wouldn't rev up properly. There was no oil left in it . Audi A4 (B5) with only 7,000 km on the crankshaft (seasonal vehicle)! Engine code AFN, 1992ccm/408Nm-2500/124kW-3800... At 3,000 km, the turbocharger failed again, requiring head removal! Now it has a hybrid turbocharger with less boost pressure, resulting in only 408Nm. Previously, it had 460Nm at 2200 rpm. Piston tilt significantly greater than in the new condition --> Wear is enormous and unacceptable.
