Hello.
Can someone explain to me what the numbers on the Lima actually mean?
The following is written on my LIMA:
0123 515 020
028 903 026 G
120A
If you search for a 120A alternator (Lima) for a VW Golf G3 with the AHU/1Z engine on eBay, you might find alternators with different part numbers that are supposedly compatible. How can I determine if the alternator will fit my engine?
Thank you for your responses. Golf III TDI AHU 402Tkm

0123 515 020 is the Bosch part number.
028 903 026 G is the VAG part number.
120A is the rated current output, which is 120 amperes.
Perhaps there are Limes that will fit, but if you want to be sure, get the correct one. There's nothing more frustrating than trying to install a Lime later and finding out the pulley isn't the right size, or a hole is slightly different, or something like that. There are so many different types of Limes that you're more likely to find the wrong one than the right one. A4 Avant 2,5 tdi 110kw; AFB; BJ2000

Then tell me which ones you found that are supposed to fit.

And while you're at it, replace the freewheel!

The verb is missing!
What are you planning to do with "these"?
Do they fit and do you want to buy them?

Regarding your links:
Number 1 is not trustworthy because why would he take a photo without showing the part number, which is clearly visible? He's trying to deceive people.
Number 2 doesn't fit.
The 1Z/AHU engine came with part number 028 903 025, which had a current rating of 120 amps.
The climate control air handling unit with model number 120A...026G.
So, choose one .

Hello dieselmartin.
Thank you for your quick response.
Why was the 120A Lima (alternator) used in some G3 models even without air conditioning? I've also seen Golf III TDIs with air conditioning that have a 90A alternator. What other factors determine which type of alternator was installed?
What's the best way to determine which Lima bean variety is the right one? Or does only the "026" variety fit?
Best regards, Golf III TDI AHU 402Tkm

If an auxiliary heating system (Ahk) is installed from the factory, a reinforced radiator, fan, larger battery, and alternator are also included.
You can comparehttp://ecat-online.bosch.de/toc/frame1.htmlthe different LIMA models here; often, there are drawings with dimensions included, which allows you to see whether a particular LIMA fits or not.
