Good evening.

Are all Volvo TDI engines from the VAG group? Do they already use the 'pump-injector' technology?

Don't pay too much attention to this, but are the 5-cylinder turbo engines from Volvo made by Audi?
Who else is using VAG engines?

If this is too off-topic, please delete it.

I'm just curious about how it works.
'Thank you.'

Best regards,
Ingo

Hey Ingo,
At least the Audi AEL is equipped with a 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter TDI engine with 103 kW (140 hp).
Perhaps this will be helpful to you.

Best regards from Bielefeld.

Peter.

Now that Volvo is part of the Ford group, I imagine that the newer engines might come from Ford (although those are also likely purchased from other suppliers).

The five-cylinder engine is a VAG engine (is it even still offered?).

The heading says "Turbodiesel Community" and not "VAG Community," so I don't think you're too far off-topic.
The focus here is on VAG products, but we haven't had anyone yet who has asked about products other than those. However, if people do ask about other products, the responses will likely be very limited.

Hello,

Only the 5-cylinder diesel engines in Volvo are based on Audi engines; the gasoline engines are not from Audi, but are Volvo's own designs.

'Pump Düse' technology is not used by Volvo. Only VW/Audi and LandRover use this technology.

The current Volvo diesel engine is a proprietary design because VAG stopped supplying them after Ford's acquisition. The five-cylinder gasoline engine was originally developed by Audi, but it was never installed in Audis for political reasons (only six-cylinder engines were used in the higher market segment). Perhaps Volvo actually bought the design and is therefore allowed to continue producing it.

... all due respect!! Apparently, the 5-cylinder diesel engine is even an aluminum engine!!! In that case, very little of it would be from the VAG engine...

I believe there was a statement in the AMS (a German automotive magazine) that the new 5-cylinder diesel with common rail technology was an in-house development based on their own 5-cylinder gasoline engines. All the 'older' 5-cylinder diesels are from Audi, but they have been modernized compared to the old Audi diesels.
It's likely that Porsche contributed more to the development of the 5-cylinder gasoline engines than Audi did.
