Hello,

I have the ultimate question about seating for those of you who ride a lot (so, basically, all of you icon_wink.gif).

"I had a herniated disc a few years ago, and I bought and installed a used Recaro orthopedic seat. However, I was disappointed because it was much too hard and transmitted every bump in the road directly to my spinal discs. It's essentially just a sports seat with extra adjustment options."

Now I have a Golf 3 in GT trim; I've already swapped the sports seat for a very simple seat from the CL series; it's already significantly better. Now I wanted to do something for my health and invest in something good. However, reality seems to have very little to do with the advertising promises of the seat manufacturers icon_rolleyes.gif.

Does anyone have experience with a comfortable chair that offers lumbar support?
Viele Grüße
Kai

Hi,

I thought the seats in the G3 were great: the recline and height were adjustable independently, and there was an adjustable lumbar support.

Probably, the back problems of the average G3 driver weren't yet severe enough to warrant such seats: As far as I know, there wasn't anything similar in the Golf class after the G3.

Hello,

After my Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medicine, no chair met my expectations anymore!

My experience suggests that a pronounced lordosis (curvature of the lower back) while sitting actually worsened the cramps, so it's best to avoid putting pressure on the lumbar spine through the seat.
Sitting as upright as possible suited me, while keeping my legs as flat as possible. I also wore a bodybuilder-style leather belt during the drive, which is cheaper than orthopedic equipment, and provides very good support for the spine while driving. However, it was not possible to park the car using the handbrake icon_wink.gif.

Get well soon.

I bought the Sportline (and not a different trim level) primarily because of the decent seats. Good side support makes a big difference in allowing your back to relax and not constantly have to "hold" you in place.

I started using a steep recline position a few years ago. My brother-in-law, who used to drive around 80,000 miles per year, also has his seat set at a very steep angle.

An electronic parking brake icon_cool.gif.
But from the outside, within the old town ring, no one icon_lol.gif can see it.

Following the motto: 'Do they still have xxx, or already an electronic parking brake in the car?' icon_wink.gif icon_cool.gif

If you want the vanity mirror lights in a BMW, you need the Terawatt disco light package. If you want the luggage nets that used to be standard behind the rear seats, you need...
a storage package... etc.

...and at VW, there's even an electric parking brake as standard icon_wink.gif. That's something they should take note of in Munich.

Regarding BSV (presumably referring to a specific condition or treatment): Seat warmers can also have a beneficial therapeutic effect!

Just so you know, they've had this feature in Munich for a while now... since 2001 in the E65 (7 series)... and it was even standard equipment icon_wink.gif.

No problem.

I believe it's called "dynamic emergency braking." Above 7 km/h, all four wheels are decelerated to a maximum of 6 m/s² by the ESP system, which also stabilizes the vehicle. Below that speed, the rear wheels are engaged using the parking brake.

You can always let go of it again, whenever you want.

Done this icon_twisted.gif

Due to persistent discomfort while sitting, this was the solution that worked for me!

I still have a Recaro seat from a Kadett E Club. It was good for me back then because of its high backrest and good side support.
I wanted to install it in a bus at some point, but I don't have the time. Maybe I'll get around to it again someday.
