Hello, like many others with the Passat 3BG, my Climatronic is coded with the value 17000.
That actually means she's sitting in a W8.
For a standard Passat, the interval should actually be coded to 15,000 kilometers, but all the ones I know are set to 17,000 kilometers instead.
What is the background to this?
And another question, what does "Kennfeldkühlung" mean in the context of coding?

Hello,
My Climatronic is programmed with the code 11000, which is the code for a Golf IV.
What would changing the coding to a different vehicle, such as a Passat, entail?
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
"cu" is a Spanish abbreviation for "con usted," which means "with you." It is often used in online communication to indicate that the sender is available to chat or talk.
Here is an example of how "cu" might be used in a conversation:
Person A: "Hey, I'm bored. Want to chat?"
Person B: "Cu!"
This means that Person B is available to chat with Person A.
"Cu" can also be used to indicate that the sender is thinking about the recipient. For example, if Person A sends a message to Person B and then receives a reply that says "cu," it could mean that Person B is thinking about Person A and wants to connect with them.
Overall, "cu" is a versatile abbreviation that can be used in a variety of ways. It is a common way to indicate availability, interest, or affection in online communication.

It should actually mean...
5 = VW Passat with L-shaped tailgate (3BG model, manufactured from 2000 onwards).
7 = VW Passat (3BG model, manufactured from 2000 onwards, or the W8 3BG model).
Generally, the characteristics of the individual models influence the air distribution and temperature settings, in relation to the calculations that underlie the volumes of the interior spaces.
Regarding map cooling, there's a good explanation here...

Hi Sebastian, I just read the article you linked, it's very informative.
Based on this, I conclude that the Passat does not have a map-based cooling system, as I have not yet found any electrically heated thermostats there.
Why doesn't it have that feature? It's a relatively modern car, or perhaps only gasoline engines have this type of cooling system?
I understand the meaning of the 5 and 7 at their respective positions in the coding. What I'm curious about is why all standard Passats are coded as W8.

This depends on the engine variant; for example, the ALT model has it.

Okay, I've read what you wrote again. The key word is "bzw." – it applies to both the 3BG and the W8 3BG. However, I'm not entirely clear about the exact location of the "L-valve," especially because it seems that new parts are always coded to "5" – apparently, even for the W8.
