Hello everyone!

I'm currently doing the timing belt replacement on my Bora with the ASZ engine! So far, it's been going well, but now I can't get the locking pin out of the camshaft wheel icon_sad.gif.

I removed the belt from the camshaft pulley again and tried to loosen the pin by gently rotating the camshaft back and forth. It didn't work, even with the use of a crimping plier.

In my opinion, the pen seems to have become dislodged, and now my question about the wheel that is attached with the central nut!

Is this wheel attached to the camshaft using a tongue and groove joint, a conical joint, or both?
Question regarding the clearly defined camshaft timing!

I don't think there's any other way to get the pen out!

Best regards, Ferdi.

If you didn't hammer it in, it will definitely come out. Twisting it won't help much, as it will only damage the aluminum material and make it even harder to remove. Use a pair of pliers and a screwdriver to slowly pry it out.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply!

I filed the top and bottom ends of the pen flat so that I could attach a crimping tool and create a ledge to prevent the tool from slipping.

Then, using the center of the pliers' jaws, a M8 screw with a head is inserted through a hole in the thick washer of the camshaft central bolt, with the head of the screw facing the back of the pliers, effectively repurposing it as a puller.

It only came out after three attempts; I was really sweating bullets!

I didn't use a hammer icon_wink.gif, but that damn locking pin from the accessories icon_evil.gif – I would have just used the drill, which I already use for Ulf's method of fine-tuning the camshaft to the crankshaft's top dead center position!

Best regards, Ferdi.
