Hello everyone,
I have installed a 1Z engine from a 1995 Golf 3 into my T3, and it's equipped with a WFS (likely referring to a specific engine management system or component).
The engine always ran very well, but recently it hasn't been performing properly. I would estimate that it's currently operating at around 30-40% of its power. The top speed is somewhere around 65-70 km/h.

I read the error codes, and it shows "Mass airflow sensor G70, short circuit to ground." A friend then "examined" the control unit and determined that a circuit trace was defective. He bypassed this circuit trace by soldering a short cable, and he claims it shouldn't be the cause anymore. The error is still the same, and there's still no power. Otherwise, I've checked everything, so the coolant system and everything else is tight and in order. I've already installed a new mass airflow sensor, but that didn't fix anything. I've also "checked" the wiring harness, meaning I measured the continuity of the wires that connect to the mass airflow sensor connector to the corresponding pin on the control unit, and everything seems to be fine there. Where could this error message be coming from? Does anyone have any idea what this is about? It would be great to finally be able to drive properly again.
Best regards,
Tobi.

Okay, I just checked the connections on the mass airflow sensor (MAF sensor) again. I checked the connector on the MAF sensor, coming from the engine control unit (ECU). I have the Pierburg MAF sensor installed, which has 6 pins, 5 of which are connected.
Pin 1: Should be 5V, is 6.5V.
Pin 2, ground connection, sensor OK.
Pin 3: Should be: 12V, Is: 14.3V.
Pin 5, chassis ground, OK.
Pin 6: Expected value: 0.3V, Actual value: 1.5V.
All data measured at idle speed.

"I also took a picture of the repaired engine control unit; it's a 028906021AF. Maybe someone can spot something that looks wrong."
