Hello everyone.

I have a question regarding the VP37(HDK) fuel injection pump when used in a Volkswagen Passat TDI-1Z manufactured in May 1994.

Is it possible, from an electrical interlocking perspective, to operate the updated successor (manufactured in 2000) of my VP37 on my existing EDC control system?
The condition is that the fuel injection lines and injectors must also be replaced to match the new electronic stability program (ESP).
The new model features a reinforced casing, which is recognizable by the additional "ribs" on the base.
The system comes from a Passat 1.9 TDI AHF with 5,000 km on the odometer, and the injectors are brand new.

Best regards.
Maik B.

Hello.

" "Do you really have common rail injectors in it?"

"No, of course not. In a VK engine, it's called an injector because it sits slightly outside the combustion chamber and only injects fuel (in one direction)."

Anything that sits within a direct injection system, such as a nozzle with 5 holes, is called an injector because it's located in the combustion chamber and directly injects fuel (almost like injecting something under the skin).
The naming convention is only indirectly related to the CR system, but it has become known because of that connection.
I'm not going to commit to anything specific here, but perhaps someone can recommend some relevant literature.
VW simply refers to these parts as "nozzle holders."

Best regards.

'That probably won't work with the new pump because...'
1. It has a completely different plug.
2. It is attached in a completely different way, and therefore adjusted differently as well.

In the case of the plug, one could certainly improvise a bit if necessary, but I don't think that would be possible with the mounting.
Best regards, Lanz.
