I think the check is a great idea.
However, the implementation is likely to be challenging, as each vehicle or vehicle type has its own characteristic curve in terms of boost pressure. This curve, in turn, depends on various factors (e.g., various temperatures, mass airflow sensor condition, soot limit, etc.).

Considering this range of values, I believe that providing a clear indication, for example, using a 'traffic light' system or something similar, about the condition of a turbocharger or other components would be very complex and difficult.

It's also important to remember that any modifications made to the engine management system should be taken into account. This includes things like chip tuning, aftermarket engine control units (ECUs), different fuel injectors, and so on. All of these changes alter the original engine characteristics and must be considered or can be taken into account.

What I'd like to have in my T3 is an indicator that shows which limitation is currently active. Ideally, it would display something like: 'Torque limitation active' (meaning everything is fine), or 'Air mass limitation active' or 'Soot limitation active' (meaning there's a problem).
When used in conjunction with a boost pressure gauge (something I no longer want to do without), this can help eliminate several potential sources of error, which would simplify troubleshooting or error detection.

Best regards,

Rolf.

Hi,

The necessary API is currently in testing. It would be conceivable to have a kind of guided troubleshooting process for the Turbo, i.e., not just a simple "good/bad" indicator.

Best regards, Rainer.

This tool will definitely be used frequently and will also, to some extent, alleviate the burden on the forum.
But can it also be used if you deviate from the original production standard due to changes in hardware and software? Actually, yes, right?

Yes, if the engine control unit has been properly tuned, then icon_smile.gif.

Hello,

Is there any news yet?

I'm already interested in it, as I don't deal with it on a daily basis, so it would be very helpful.

Best regards,
Unfortunately, I cannot translate that word because it is not a recognized word in German. It may be a misspelling or a made-up word.

It would definitely be highly recommended. Also, an LMM test would be the perfect finishing touch.

Best regards, Thorsten.

Even if the boost pressure is correct, it doesn't automatically mean that the turbocharger is in good condition. You write "turbocharger check"... but what if, for example, the shaft has excessive play and too much oil is leaking? Could that also cause a lack of power? I know of several cases where the engine management system was tested, and the turbocharger was immediately ruled out as the source of the problem simply because the boost pressure was within the normal range. So much for that icon_smile.gif.

Hi,

The purpose of KTurbocheck is to verify the function of the turbocharger pressure control system.
If someone has a loader that consumes an endless amount of oil, it would be a disgrace if a mechanic needs a tool to detect the smoke icon_confused.gif.

Hello Rainer K.,
I also recently discovered, after fiddling with my VP37, that...
"It seems there's an issue with the boost pressure. Currently, I'm looking for information in the forum on how to create a proper log file."
That software would be really great... Have you made any progress in that regard?
Do you need a "clueless" TESTER?? After all, the software should be easy to use even for beginners, right?? icon_wink.gif

Best regards.

The idea is good!

It can be quite challenging to identify the loader as the definitive source of the problem.
I believe there are too many error messages that lead to low or poor engine performance, "not to mention false sensor data, oxidized connectors, low coolant levels, a dirty intake manifold, faulty control units, etc."
The distinction between what is good and what is bad is likely a matter of nuance.
Keep in mind how much a new charger costs.
Even though the workshop just keeps swapping parts until they hopefully find the right one.

It's sure to be an interesting product, and practice will show what the success rate of the software is.

Hmm, there's a special offer in the shop right now:
http://shop.dieselschrauber.de/product_info.php/cPath/27/products_id/52

"Available soon."
but also.
"Customers who bought this also bought..."

@Rainer:
Now that the software (in an initial version) is available, how about some screenshots, or a brief description of the testing procedures and how the analysis works in principle?
