Was haltet ihr von einem Tool, das per VAG-COM die Funktion der Ladedruckregelung bewertet und Hilfe zur Fehlersuche gibt?
Ja, klasse Idee!

Hi,

As is well known in this forum, there are recurring problems with the turbocharger pressure regulation in TDIs and many other engines.
Therefore, please take the following survey.

Best regards, Rainer.

What do you think about a tool that, using VAG-COM, assesses the function of the turbocharger pressure control system and provides assistance with troubleshooting?

That would certainly be helpful for beginners (and workshops icon_twisted.gif).
Therefore, I voted "great idea" - even though I imagine I don't actually need it myself...

According to what "easily understandable for silicon-based life forms" criteria do you want to have an automatic evaluation calculated ?

Hi,

The values from various measurement blocks should be evaluated after a driving cycle.

Best regards, Rainer.

hello rainer,

The idea is fundamentally good. I support it as well. It gives less experienced users a tool to easily and quickly see what is factual. I wouldn't necessarily need it myself, like Ulf probably wouldn't, but it would certainly make life easier.

What I'd be interested in knowing is how you plan to assess the condition of the turbocharger. While consistently low boost pressure, due to the high load ratio, can indicate certain issues, there are other potential causes, such as leaks in the intake system. It will also continue to be difficult to determine whether the valve timing is correct or not. Overshoot is likely to occur in almost every turbocharger. The question is whether the sampling rate of VAG-COM, especially with older control units, is high enough to accurately capture all of this data.

Or am I completely wrong?

Hi.

I think a "proof of concept" program would be worthwhile.
At the very least, a stuck VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) is clearly visible. If you then provide specific instructions on what to do to the car, it should work.
Minor leaks will be difficult to detect, while larger ones should be noticeable.

Best regards, Rainer.

Sure, let's give it a try. icon_razz.gif

Regarding error diagnosis, we could include specific text or instructions in the documentation.

According to what 'easily understandable for silicon-based beings' criteria do you want to have an automatic evaluation calculated and displayed:lol:?

I also imagine that would be quite difficult. Moreover, the quality of 'normal' behavior is likely to vary significantly between different diagnostic categories (ICDs).
as well as with and without VTG.

My AJM certainly doesn't have ideal throttle response with its LD over- and underswings, but when I searched the forum a month ago, I found other AJM owners who said theirs was the same – that it's normal.

My suggestion is therefore: A switch on the surface to enable or disable VTG (Vehicle Train Ground).
- and a static text for AJMs: 'Every rule, no matter how simple, is better than no rule at all!' }

Best regards,
herwig

Hi,

That would be engine code letters, specifically (or depending on the specific part number of the engine control unit).

Best regards, Rainer.

And then, as the next step, a LMM tester icon_wink.gif.

Greetings to the entire forum;

I think this is an important topic, and it's crucial to provide users with information about what is incorrect with the emission control regulations and fuel injection settings in the car. You can't always rely on what the dealerships tell you. So, it's really a good idea to evaluate the Long-Term Fuel Trim (LTFT) using software. icon_razz.gif icon_razz.gif

I have often had to conduct various test runs followed by evaluations in order to identify errors in this area.

greetings

That would really be a great thing!

I've had similar problems myself. If a diagnosis could be made in that way... that would be great!!!

Hello Rainer,

I think this is a great idea!

Because comparing and evaluating different parameters can also be left to software, especially when the user doesn't deal with such problems on a daily basis.

However, as with all diagnostic messages, a certain level of expertise is necessary to avoid falling blindly into the (replacement) trap.

What about Theresia's suggestion of an LMM test?
When dealing with a suspected Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor issue, the comparison typically involves only the measured values and specifications derived from driver demand, smoke limit, torque limitation, and the (incorrectly) measured air mass at corresponding engine speeds.

The software should automatically (is that possible??) retrieve the correct parameters from VAG-COM and then, via voice output (due to traffic safety icon_biggrin.gif), provide the corresponding driving commands.

A system of 'traffic light' symbols – green (OK), yellow (potentially defective), and red (definitely defective) – would likely be the best way to display information about faulty LLMs and turbocharger pressure regulation systems.
While calibrating the LDR (Light Dependent Resistor), I also envision a potential 'side effect' – a calibration aid for the pressure canister adjustment rod (feedback loop causing 'overshoot' = overshooting, feedback loop too slow). There are frequently posts on this topic that reflect a certain degree of confusion.

These are just suggestions and proposals! I can roughly imagine how many hours would be spent on such a project. icon_wink.gif

BTW: I still consider an automatically generated order form with the correct part number, correct price, and delivery date to be (unnecessary). icon_wink.gif

That's also the plan. A mass airflow sensor checker would certainly be easier to implement than one for turbochargers/boost control.

I will start working on it as soon as I have the time. Right now, I am busy with the overhaul of the forum software and various translations.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,

The implementation is planned to begin immediately after the corresponding plugin interface is created.
There is no appointment yet.

Best regards, Rainer.
