Hi everyone,

Problem: On the highway, the WAPU in my AFN malfunctioned. Even an immediate shutdown of the engine couldn't protect me from a cylinder head gasket failure.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Well, since I want to keep using my AFN for quite some time, I'm going to fix it. The current mileage is 256,000 km, and I think it's probably time to replace these kinds of things anyway. Now I am practically forced to do this, as coolant is being forced into the cooling system.

For the AFN, there are 3 different strength head gaskets that can be identified through the coding with 1-3 holes in the "flag" of the ZKD, located near the 1st. Extends beyond the cylinder.

I would like to have my cylinder head planed before I assemble it. The question is now, of course:
- Does it make sense to apply a correspondingly stronger sealant after planning the head?
to incorporate?
I would then have the difference in the two sealing thicknesses milled away.
(Currently using a ZKD with 2 holes, would then switch to the thicker version with 3 holes)
installing)

Is that sensible, or does one say it depends on how much needs to be planned (up to what point can the "original" be re-installed), or does one generally say that one builds a thicker one according to the acceptance amount in order not to increase the density?

Thank you and best regards.

Hallo Achim,

Quote:
