hello!
Unfortunately, the search function is not working again due to server overload, so I'm starting this topic again.
I have a Golf 3 (4/94, engine code 1Z) that I converted to an AFN engine (donor car was a Golf Variant from 8/96). During the conversion, the entire front axle, including the braking system, was replaced.
'Now, I'd like to upgrade the brakes on my Golf 3 GTI. Currently, I still have drum brakes on the rear, and I'd prefer to have a 5x100 bolt pattern.'
The master cylinder is probably the same. It shouldn't be a problem at the rear either, as long as the axle shaft fits; only the longer brake lines would need to be replaced. Or am I wrong about that???
The problem is that the TDI drive shafts probably don't fit into the GTI wheel hub. Is that correct? And if so, can the TDI wheel hubs be pressed into the GTI wheel bearings, so that they can be replaced?
In summary: I want to convert my 4-hole AFN brake system to a 5-hole GTI system, and I'm looking for competent assistance.
best regards, peter
