RNS 510 Reviews: Your Experiences?

Has anyone had their RNS 510 "touched" (modified/repaired)?

Or even better, to install it in a car that was previously equipped with an RCD 500?

Wait for the RNS 510 until there's a stable software version available.

The component is sensitive to external media, even when they are being read.

After a faulty silver coin is ejected, the drive does not reboot.

The customer has to manually adjust this using the corresponding keyboard shortcut. - I think an update will be released soon.

The installation should be feasible in a vehicle equipped with an RCD 500.

Replacing the RCD 500 / RCD 300 with an RNS 510 is a straightforward process.
Just connect a GPS antenna.
People in our forum have already done that.

That thing is a really neat gadget.
The price is also quite high .

Okay, with the Golf IV, there were three different antenna variants... you can quickly identify them by looking at the connector.

I have the RNS510 system in my new Touran, which is about 6-8 weeks old.

So far, I've noticed the following:

1. GALA is not working. The volume is not increasing, no matter how the device is set. According to my workshop, a new software is being prepared that should fix the problem. I will be notified as soon as it is available.

2. When you copy a CD to the hard drive, listen to the radio in the background, and the CD cannot be read for some reason (e.g., scratches), an error message appears, such as 'Read error on the medium' or 'Error during copying.' If you confirm the message with 'OK,' the radio strangely switches to the medium wave band. }

3. Another thing, which is a bit annoying and might be related to point 1, is that you have to adjust the different volume levels separately. For example, if you turn up the radio, the navigation voice doesn't automatically get louder. The same applies to the phone volume. If you've been talking loudly on the phone on the highway and then get a call later while you've already turned down the radio volume, you'll be practically yelled at.

That's all for now, these are the things I've noticed after 4 weeks and 5500 km.
