Good morning!

Unfortunately, I'm experiencing a number of problems with my vehicle. It is the following type of vehicle:
Passat V6 TDI, 120 kW, manual transmission, first registration date: 03/2004

I had already searched for advice in various other forums (MT, Passat3b), but unfortunately, I never received a truly helpful answer. icon_mad.gif

Here's a brief overview of the problems:

1. Power loss at 2000 RPM.
"Whenever I accelerate, regardless of the gear, the engine starts pulling as expected from around 1500 RPM, once it's out of the turbo lag. However, I often notice a significant drop in power at around 2000 RPM, no matter what gear I'm in, especially when the engine hasn't reached its operating temperature yet. It feels like I'm slightly lifting off the accelerator; the pressure suddenly disappears. The car still accelerates well, but not with the same force. Subjectively, this "weak" feeling persists even after the engine reaches its operating temperature. While the drop in power doesn't occur anymore then, the increase in pressure during acceleration also isn't as pronounced. Additionally, the car doesn't reach the stated top speed (222 km/h according to the registration) on a flat surface (it only reaches 215 km/h on the speedometer)."

2. Whistling sound at 2000 RPM.
The problem is perfectly described here in this thread:
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.
I don't have the problem with the TT that is suspected here, because I drive a manual transmission. Furthermore, the noises weren't present from the beginning (certainly not as noticeably loud) and are getting louder. In the past few weeks, when it was very cold, the noise hardly occurred. Today, it was warmer, and the noise was immediately present and, in my opinion, stronger than ever. Unfortunately, I'm not logged in enough to answer there yet; otherwise, I would include this topic in the thread of the link. icon_wink.gif

3. Idle shaking:
The vehicle would always shake when idling after being warmed up, especially if it was stopped for a few seconds (about 10 seconds after coming to a halt). The longer the vehicle had been driven and the more load there was on it, the stronger the shaking became. The vehicle has now been in the workshop for 4 days. The mechanic noticed the shaking and apparently completely replaced the camshafts. I took delivery of the vehicle with the comment that everything should be okay now.

The only thing I've been able to determine so far today is:
- The idle speed is now suddenly about 100 RPM higher when the engine is cold. It used to be around 700 RPM, but now it's 800 RPM. It's a small difference, but noticeable and immediately apparent.
- However, after letting it warm up earlier, I noticed that the idle speed was still relatively high (just below the 800 mark), even with the engine warmed up. You could also hear it in the sound of the engine. Now, at idle, the engine noise is noticeably louder than it was before the new water pump replacement.
- However, the shaking is still noticeable. It's not as strong as it was before, but it can still be felt. In my opinion, this is due to the now higher idle speed and not a faulty crankshaft position sensor.

I'm a bit at a loss now. I've been to the workshop several times, and frankly, I'm really frustrated. I keep hearing things like "there's nothing wrong," or "that's just airflow noise."

I would be very grateful for truly competent answers.

Best regards,

Before providing any expert answers, it's important to conduct a measurement run and specify the engine code (MKB).

MKB schaue ich demnächst nach. VAGCOM habe ich leider keines verfügbar. Muss zugeben, dass ich mich auch in der Forums-Rubrik girrt habe. Es hätte wohl besser in "Allgemeine Technik" gepasst. SoI'm sorry.

If a moderator could move it, that would be great.
