Valve Stem Seal Tools: Repair & Replacement

HELLO,

I need to replace the head gasket on a Deutz engine soon (due to significant oil leakage). I'm also going to replace the valve stem seals at the same time. Question: Unfortunately, I don't have any specialized tools available (like the lever used to depress the springs). Does anyone know of a way to do this without that tool, so I can compress the springs and remove/reinstall the tapered pieces? Thanks.

Yes:
weld one yourself from a large C-clamp.
You should be able to bend two windows from the appropriate pipe to press down on the disc. The screw handle should face towards the valve disc!
Should I start a series? Anyone interested? No, just do it yourself; it's cheaper.

I'm using a section of pipe with a window that is pressed down by a drill attached to the drill stand.

That's the idea with the drill. I will bend a bracket or cut a window from a pipe, and then press the whole thing down using a standing drill press. This works very well for me because my machine has a feed mechanism, which automatically holds the position. !! Thanks again.
