Since I want to work on the engine, here in the engine forum:

I have a 1/4-inch torque wrench (up to 30 Nm).

The 3/8 inch drive wrench provides up to 100 Nm of torque.

Okay, I've now purchased the adapters shown in the picture, but especially the 3/8" to 1/2" adapter doesn't seem to convey much torque.

Has anyone here had any experience with these things? Do they last a long time, or do they tend to break easily?

(Background: I only have 1/4" and 1/2" drive bits – all from Proxxon, and a few specialized sockets from Gedore.)

Do you want to know now whether Proxxon uses good quality components, or whether you can use your construction to loosen central axle nuts?

I have had very good experiences with Proxxon products, although the ratchets with the tilting lever shifting mechanism are a poorly designed flaw.
However, the Nuesse products are quite durable – much more so than comparable generic or unbranded products!

I've had very good experiences with Proxon so far. I haven't been able to identify any disadvantages compared to tools from brands like Gedore or Hazet.
To be absolutely sure, I would simply try it on a different screw (one that's not critical for torque). That way, you can be certain whether the adapter holds properly. If it's from Proxon, it should work fine.

If they actually used the promised chrome steel, your 1/4-inch ratchet will likely break down sooner than this construction. And with the normally used through-handle design, the 1/2-inch part shouldn't fall apart either.
