Hello,
I installed a tow hitch on my 2000 Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI with an AGR engine. Everything is working great. However, the warning light for the tow hitch is still missing in the instrument cluster. Can someone please explain how to activate it using VCDS? Thank you.

Check if you have actually installed the indicator light in the instrument cluster (actuator diagnosis). If so, you will need a turn signal relay with a C2 connector.

Hi,
That is to say, if I want to connect the light to the trailer hitch, would I just need to replace my hazard light relay with one designed for a trailer hitch?
What happens if I can't connect to it? If there's a trailer malfunction, will the turn signal on the car also flash faster, or will it not recognize the trailer?

It depends on which wiring harness you have. Some wiring harnesses include an additional relay.
(The control unit) is integrated into the wiring harness, and when a trailer is connected, it monitors the trailer's lights. If a trailer light malfunctions, the vehicle's turn signal will flash twice as fast.
"I installed a universal 7-pin wiring harness in my 2001 Golf, along with a hazard light switch/relay with a C2 connector (which costs about 26 €). When a trailer is connected, a second warning light illuminates in the instrument cluster. This allowed me to avoid running a wire for the relay (terminal 30) to the rear."
However, if you have installed a 13-pin wiring harness (possibly vehicle-specific), the relay for increasing the blinker frequency is usually included.
