Skoda Octavia 1.9: Specs, Problems, & More

Okay, I'm having a problem with my Skoda Octavia, 1.9 TDI, 66 kW, manufactured in 2001, with 250,000 km on the odometer.


Zahnriemen neu belegt. Wasserpumpe neu. Kraftstofffilter neu. ESP neu. Luftmengenmesser neu. Air filter replaced.

Problem description: Before replacing all the parts, the performance dropped from 190 km (miles) to 160 km (miles). At a constant engine speed, for example 100 km (miles), the diesel consumption shows erratic readings... 28.6 liters, 31.4 liters, etc. Furthermore, small air bubbles are visible in the hose from the fuel filter. The ESP fuses have been replaced. The car accelerates well up to 3rd gear. No smoke is visible during driving. Cold starts are very good. No turbo noises can be heard. A visual inspection of the turbo shows everything to be okay.

Are the glow plugs possibly faulty, or is it the turbocharger pressure sensor???

The engine control unit (ECU) will tell you why it's running in limp mode; you just need to ask it.

I would NEVER just replace a control unit wholesale if an error occurs after the repair (assuming I understood correctly?).
