Hello!

I checked the battery values in control unit 19 of my Octavia 5E using VCDS, and I noticed that in my car, which has a functioning battery, the serial number displayed was 1111111111 (which is generally the default serial number assigned at the factory).

Then, I eagerly entered the correct battery serial number as indicated on the sticker, and immediately upon entering the actual values, I received the message "Battery weak," and the fan noise when the ignition was on also stopped. In the Bolero system, I received the message "Turn off infotainment system due to low battery"... even though the battery was fully charged.

That made me feel uneasy, and I didn't dare to go any further.

Turning the ignition off and then on didn't solve the problem.

I re-entered the original serial number 1111111111 for the battery into VCDS, saved the settings, turned the ignition off and then on, and the warning message about the weak battery disappeared.

How important is the correct serial number of the battery in the STG 19?
Have I missed something?

Second question:
Should the correct serial number always be encoded after a battery replacement, or should it remain as 1111111111?

"Thank you."

I installed a more powerful AGM battery in my then-current Sharan 7N. Because it wasn't an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) battery, I had to enter the capacity information. In the process, I incremented the serial number by one.

I think you only changed the serial number and didn't modify the battery's capacity values, which has thrown the system off.
Viele Grüße
Andreas

Hello,

Based on my experience, it's best not to modify anything related to the battery, and when replacing it, use the same type that was originally installed.

Best regards, Rainer.
