Galaxy Heater Diagnosis: Troubleshooting Guide

"This weekend, I was working on a 1998 Ford Galaxy using the Interface (Hex+CAN). My VCDS software is up to date. Unfortunately, I can't access the control module for the factory-installed auxiliary heater. I can, however, access the other control modules."

Could it be that Ford has implemented something specific, which is why the control unit is not accessible via VCDS?

Ford probably didn't do much there. If the heating system is from Webasto, you need the corresponding software, not VCDS. However, there are still differences between aftermarket and original equipment (OE) heating systems. I believe the issue was more about the communication between the control unit and the auxiliary heater (SHZ), using either a CAN or W-bus.
